I originally paid for the cowhide but someone offered me the alpine instead because they were out of the cowhide and I really don't want to get ripped off. This is serious btw so please answer properly because I'm buying this for someone's present.

Also are TPU or Carbon fibre better for knuckle and finger protectors?Are Alpinestars SP1 better than the cowhide Leather TPU gloves?
Based on experience I would prefer Alpinestars over any other glove. However, if you look at the price difference it is surprising anyone would offer them as a substitute for the cheaper pair 鈥?there are plenty of brands in between.
Carbon fibre, being stronger than impact plastics, is preferable.
