Can I use a rubber ducky style antenna on a base station CB radio?

I want to know if I can use a rubber ducky antenna that is meant to be used on a hand held CB radio, on a base station CB for small range communications. Can I use a rubber ducky style antenna on a base station CB radio?
Radio shack used to sell. I do not know if they still do, a "back of set" CB antenna. I actually used one and it worked well for a mile or so.

The antenna (rubber duck) will work for extremely short ranges, but you need one made for CB bands.

You may wish to consider FRS, or eXRS for your communications, as they are handheld and use FM rather than noisy AM for communications. (provided you live in the USA) Europe uses FM for CB also.
It probably will work ok as long as the base station is not putting out 100 watts (illegal power). The normal power output for CB on Am is 5 watts, which would work fine. Can I use a rubber ducky style antenna on a base station CB radio?
Only if the "Rubber Ducky" antenna is specifically for the CB bands. Generally they are for VHF and UHF radios.
I wouldn't recommend it for several reasons:

1. Most handheld CB radios only put out a couple watts at the most, meaning the "rubber ducky" was also not designed for your full-power base station. In addition, if your base-station also uses SSB then you could potentially be talking about even higher RMS wattages.

2. You likely will not obtain a decent match between the antenna and base station. Those "duckies" are designed to use the handheld casing as part of the antenna stucture; you are significantly changing that. You may want to check with an SWR meter if you have one.. although for this setup I doubt your readings would be accurate anyways. You may run the risk of burning out your radios finals.

3. Your "duckie" may be placing harmful RF closer to your operating position. If you decide to use this route then you should try to keep as much distance between yourself and the antenna as possible.

I would strongly recommend trying to use something more efficient for your needs; try to place a suitable antenna outside. The results are worth it.Can I use a rubber ducky style antenna on a base station CB radio?
you can do it, but they hardly work as is on a handheld, you also need to get a connector that will go from a pl259 to what ever is on the end of your handheld.

you need to make sure it is STRAIGHT up and down, verticle as can be. thats the only chance you have of getting out,

its deff. not recommended you wont hear far at all, or get out very far, you mgiht hear people as they drive by your house..... you would be better off getting a magnet mount antenna from radio shack and sticking it to something metal or getting a metal plate sticking git out your window, and then plugging it in....
