Is it weird that my 21 year old brother has a cb radio in his Honda? hmm i wonder why he is single?

Is it wierd that my 21 year old brother has a cb radio in his honda car and talks to random people that he does not know? It scares me that he thinks it is a hobby when he drives. Should I get him help?Is it weird that my 21 year old brother has a cb radio in his Honda? hmm i wonder why he is single?
nah hes just at a phase where he thinks that dumb stuff is cool. later on hes going to think that was gay and was a waste of money lol.
No, it's not weird. Lots of people are into CBs. It's an easy and fun hobby (if not expensive); they're easily customizable, and it's a challenge to see how far away you can reach out with them.

WHy does it scare you that he talks on it while he drives? So do truck drivers, and everyone else with a CB in their vehicles. It's not like talking on a cell phone. You don't have to look down, dial a number or anything like that, you just press the button and talk. Other than that it's no different than talking to someone in the car with you. It's not pressed to your ear, so you don't zone out the way people on cell phones do. Think about it - you never hear about car accidents involving someone who was talking on a CB.

Not only that, but I think it's probably very, very unlikely that he's single because he's got a CB. Lots of guys have CBs in their cars or trucks. My own husband (and some of his friends) each have about three or four of them. Just because you've deemed it "uncool" doesn't mean that it actually is. Just let him live his life!Is it weird that my 21 year old brother has a cb radio in his Honda? hmm i wonder why he is single?
Ryan, its obvious that you don't know about hobbies. CB radio is a hobby, it is made not only as a base station piece of equipment, but also as a mobile unit. It is made this way so that you can install it in a motor vehicle, after the installation, you can then talk to anyone that has the same hobby. CB radio has been around the UK for many years, and I can remember it in the 70's when it was illegal to own a CB radio, and later when it was made legal, if it had SSB on it. (Single Side Band). this mode was used by many enthusiasts to talk to many overseas stations. Yes Ryan, there were stations using CB's on the continent too, and especially America. Now days, many of the old users have graduated to Amateur Radio which has been going for much longer than CB's and the amateurs have been responsible for your modern day radio's TVs etc. Without them experimenting You would not have had the stuff you take for granted now. The only thing I can ask is "Does your brother have a hands free microphone for his radio"? It would be very much safer if he had. Maybe if you took the exam to be a radio 'Ham' you could then convert your brother also. Being a 'Ham' is a very rewarding hobby where you can help others in need and also have help given you if needed. You will find that being a 'Ham' is extremely envigorating, providing you join the right club. You will do all sorts of events every year as the club I belong to does. I've been a 'Ham' for about 30 years and still enjoy it very much, I have even progressed to teaching others the Morse Code. You should try it, you might like it.
What your brother is doing is no different than what we are doing right now, at this moment. We are communicating with complete strangers, right?

At least with a CB you have a pretty good idea that you are actually talking to a male or a female.

Communicating with a voice instead of the written word has a lot more realistic meaning. Humor comes across a lot better in speech than in writing and voice inflection certainly cannot be heard in the written word.

So, your brother really has one up on the rest of us, in my opinion.10 4.Is it weird that my 21 year old brother has a cb radio in his Honda? hmm i wonder why he is single?
I don't think it is weird. It is kind of neat to see people that don't have any social anxieties about talking to other people. Now he may get into trouble anyway with this hobby if he is interfering with the trucking channels. He will get over it so don't worry about it. He's single because he drive a Honda not because of the cb... but I guess I am biased!
Just wait till an emergency happenes, or your cell phone dont work.

Then you will be very happy he has a CB radio.
What is a cb radio?
um, no. let your brother live his life.
