Do you have to tune antennas for a cb radio if you disconnect them from the mounts?

I just got a cb radio and antenna mounts, it says to tune the antennas for the best performance, but i was wondering if i take the antennas off the mounts do i have to retune themDo you have to tune antennas for a cb radio if you disconnect them from the mounts?
Find a shop that has a SWR.They can tune it for best range.Placement of antennae has a lot to do with range so ask them if your not sure.Once it's tuned, you won't need to do anything unless you replace mast.
um how would u tune them??? u just hook them up....tuning means point them in the right direction.....which means moving ur truck/car to a better spot if u aren't getting good signal...Do you have to tune antennas for a cb radio if you disconnect them from the mounts?
you don,t have to retune it as long as you don,t move the stinger. that,s the antenna. once you tune the antenna to the radio you can take it off and put it back on and the swr won,t change. i had a cb since 1977. you can tell by my name on here what my handle is.
Once the antenna has been tuned you will not have to do it every time. Fine a good CB radio shop they will do this for you at a small charge. If you can not find a CB shop check your local Ham radio operator they can point you in the right direction.Do you have to tune antennas for a cb radio if you disconnect them from the mounts?
Generally, tuning means to adjust the length of the antenna so it is the right length for the frequencies where you will be operating. Removing the antenna from the mount or the mount from the vehicle shouldn't be a problem. If the antenna rod becomes loose from the base or center coils (not a problem with 102" whips) you should retune it again with your SWR meter.

Hint: Tune the antenna to channel 17. It should provide a better SWR throughout the band rather than turning it for the exact center of the band which is ch 19.
