My new 1970s CB radio only picks up 1 channel. Are all CB radios digital or something?

I just got this NEW 1970s CB radio from my Grand father. I went and got a antenna and i can only hear one channel of people talking, is that normal? Is it the antenna? Or are most CB Radios digital now?My new 1970s CB radio only picks up 1 channel. Are all CB radios digital or something?
depending on your home location (and the quality of the CB antenna and correct SWR), CB's popularity have decreased considerably.

channel 19 might be the only channel active in your area.

first make sure the SWR is OK, if it is, then in your area, not much is going on in the CB worldMy new 1970s CB radio only picks up 1 channel. Are all CB radios digital or something?
you probably have a 23 channel cb. the 1 i have is a uniden 40 channel. most of the cbs today are 40 channels and digital. even if you do have a 23 you still should pick up more then 1 channel. make sure you put a meter on your antenna to match it to your radio or you will blow up the radio. i really love my cb in my car, especially when i,am driving on the interstate. i had 1 since 1977. it sounds to me like some of the finals are out of the radio. which means you need another radio but keep that 1 to remember your grandfather. My new 1970s CB radio only picks up 1 channel. nope. CB's have always been an analog rf system. ch 19 is the truckers ch for most. lots of idiots on there if ya ask me. very rarely is there anything said that is of any importance.
not much on/channel 19 is still the truckers
