I have a cobra handheld cb radio, 40 chanel and There are fresh non-rechargable batteries in it. It works fine and has power when the squelch is all the way up, but when i turn the squelch knob down (clockwise) just the slightest bit, the display turns off and I can't hear anything.
Anyone know what is happening?Cb radio turning off when squelch is adjusted?
yes.
that is the purpose of the squelch button - it 'squelches' the sound of speaker until a signal is received.
when a signal is received, then the sound comes back on and your display lights back up.
this is also a battery save function
