How can I get my CB radio to work?

My CB Radio is always displaying a S.W.R of 4.0!!!

It is driving my nuts because I don't know how to fix this, and allot of people have told me that I can damage my radio if I use it when It's broken in this particular way.How can I get my CB radio to work?
First, make sure that you are using the SWR meter properly. Then check all coaxial cable connectors to make sure the are seated and screwed on properly. Inspect every inch of coaxial cable to make sure there aren't any breaks, tears, or kinks. Then check your grounding. Also you should be able to raise/lower or trim your antenna to match to the frequency. Any SWR reading above 2.0 can damage your radio. How can I get my CB radio to work?
You should have a reading of 1.5 or lower, you may need to trim the bottom of the antenna where it goes in the mounting, you could also have a bad groung or coaxial cable, your best bet would be to find a CB shop where you live. If you don't get the SWR, Standing Wave Ratio down, yes you will ruin your radioHow can I get my CB radio to work?
It is possible to damage it running it like that. I suspect antenna or antenna cable damage.
