I owned an Acura rsx type s 02 and was planing on installing a turbo kit. It's not going to be some super charger or a powerful at that. Just somthing to give my car an extra kick and make her more fun to drive. She already has about 200hp and I just want more but I need to know if installing a turbo kit going to damage my engine in anyway. Thank you very much.Acura RSX turbo charge damage the engine or not?
1. "she" doesn't have 200 horsepower. 210 was flywheel rating, which means you're really around 160-165 at the wheels. Take it to a dyno before just spitting out random numbers. Stating how much horsepower your engine has is pointless, since that's not how much actually goes to the ground.
2. The engine isn't designed for use with a turbo. And a turbo increases compression in the engine. So, if you don't change the pistons, rods, etc, you either need to run very low boost, or blow the engine up.
3. A supercharger does the exact same thing, so there's no point in saying you're going one way over the other, to avoid damage. They're set up different, but accomplish the same thing.Acura RSX turbo charge damage the engine or not?
are you purchasing a complete kit or doing a custom setup? either way it all depends on the tune if you do install a turbo dont beat on it until you have it tuned that will easily turn your engine into a grenade. check out the forums for RSX owners there are plenty out there and im sure they have the best info on the best turbo setupsAcura RSX turbo charge damage the engine or not?
ok first of all as stated earlier you are not losing 50 hp to the wheels from the factory rating. you are prob around 185 or so. And as long as you have safe amounts of boost prob no more than 14 psi and don't beat the ever lovin hell out of your car than a proper install with fuel system upgrades, exhaust components, and kpro you will be fine. If you do not want sudden bursts and want ready to go power than a supercharger is a nice play also. http://www.clubrsx.com/ here are forums for your car (everything you will ever need to know or buy)
Anything that is adding more horsepower to your car will cause it to break down and wear out quicker. The thing with you wanting to add a turbo to your ride and asking about damage mostly depends on the amount of boost your going to be trying to get out of it. A lot of stock cars that have turbo's are running very little boost as in 3-5. If you added that amount of boost with a boost controler you will cause less damage to your ride over a long period of time compared to trying to run 10 pounds and blowing your car up a lot quicker. But again any modifications to your car to add power make it wear out quicker because of the fact its putting more strain on your car. whether its very little that makes it blow at 199k instead of 200k or if its a lot that makes it blow on its virgin race...
