Since my 03 acura rsx hp is at 200, how much hp will it be if i add a cold intake air system ( from the brand injem) , some race headers ( DC) , a exhaust system (GREDDY) , and a supercharged kit ? also will a body kit, carbon fiber hood, spoiler, and race seats help make the car go faster ? you can also add some other performance parts that can enchance the car as well . Thank youHow much Horsepower will my acura rsx type s if I add?
Your car makes about 155-160 wheel hp in stock form. Now adding the bolt-on mods (minus the supercharger) will get you to about 170-175 at the wheels, however there will be gains in the mid-range that are above 20+ wheel hp. This is where people get confused. They know their car is faster, but when they add this stuff and dyno it they only seem to look at the MAX power, and not the entire gain in the powerband.
That being said, the supercharger is where the power will be made from. Depending on what brand and kit you get you can see gains (on a stock motor) anywhere from 45-50 whp all the way to around 90-100 whp. Just be sure to get a reputable brand and a decent installer or you will be having a nightmare on your hands.
at most you will be looking at around 20-30hp increase with the basics, cai, headers and exhaust. supercharger for your acura you are going to want to look at the jackson racing supercharger kit. with proper rebuild of internals you can see up to 100 hp increase, maybe more depending on what you put into it. body kits carbon fiber hood spoiler and race seats help, when you get into massively high output engines looking for weight reduction, it does nothing to improve the output of the engine itself. alot of body kits cause more drag than its worth, veilside body kits are aerodynamically designed to decrease drag. spoilers create downforce to keep the tires planted to the ground. racing seats are designed with safety in mind for the trace, (5 point harness deep bucket seats to keep driver from bracing against steering wheel etc.) carbon fiber components are designed to decrease weight for racing applications. if you want noticeable increase in horsepower, turbocharge (synapse, precision tune, greddy, hks etc.) or a supercharger (jackson racing) if you go that route be careful, follow the break in procedure, and at least lightly build the internals. How much Horsepower will my acura rsx type s if I add?
I own a RSX Type S 2005. I am making 235WHP after getting dynoed.
My mods are:
Injen cold air intake
Rbc intake manifold
Club RSX race header
Skunk2 exhaust
And most importantly Hondata K-PRO computer.
After I add my Jackson racing supercharger I will definitely be hitting over 300WHP on 11PSI.
Don't get a body kit. Get a lip kit. Carbon fiber hood will help with weigt reduction but you have to maintain it. My car is also lowered on coilovers. And don't listen to the other guy. You NEED a CAI for the supercharger because the supercharger is only replacing the intake manifold.
Contact me if any more questions.
just to add to seans answer:
it takes removing 100 pounds of weight to increase your 1/4 mile time by 0.1 seconds, so focusing on weight reduction wont do much (especially when considering bang for buck) unless thats the last thing to do.
also super chargers do not do well with hondas. the displacement is too low and the engines are too hot to begin with. if you want results, get a turbo.
if you're looking for ideas for a build, go on evans-tuning.com and look at the dyno graphs for different builds. a dyno test shows actual results, otherwise you're just speculating.
also dont forget to build the engine and most importantly GET A TUNE.How much Horsepower will my acura rsx type s if I add?
Ok, first things first, if you're going to supercharge it, don't waste your money on the cold air intake. Why? Because you will have to take it off for the supercharger, as the supercharger will alter where the inlet to the engine is and maybe even where the filter is located, so none of it will be useable.
Second, a race header is illegal for a street car.
As for the rest...
Anything that drops weight will help performance, but you won't feel the difference from losing 10lbs off the hood, but when it combines with everything else, if you drop 100lbs it will be faster in all areas, acceleration, braking and cornering. A body kit can improve the stability at speed and even increase the top speed and handling, but you will have to pay for it. A Mugen body kit is wind tunnel tested and has actual performance benefits. But it also costs about $4500. Race seats will make the ride a bit more uncomfortable, but will help drop weight (and lower the center of gravity slightly), so it will improve that way.
I would expect your car to make about 275hp (or about 220hp at the wheels) with a basic low boost Jackson Racing supercharger. The RSX-S is 11.0:1 compression stock so you can't run a lot of boost, more than 6-7psi is pushing it, so power gains will be limited.
Some other things you can do to make the car faster depend on money and what kind of faster, so I will separateit into HP gains and otehr improvements.
HP gains:
Turbo kit instead of Supercharger can be worth an extra 25-50hp compared to the Supercharger baseline and can be increased higher with a forged engine.
Higher lift camshafts
Hondata phenolic intake spacer
Non-HP gains:
chassis reinforcements
Coilovers
TIRES - this is a big one that some people miss.
Battery - Often overlooked, you can get a lightweight battery from Braille, Odyssey, etc. The battery in my mustang is almost 40lbs lighter than the original battery, as it was made for a Harley Davidson motorcycle, but starts my 4.6L V8 just fine. I just don't sit in a parking lot blaring the stereo for 2 hours because it doesn't have a lot of reserve.
Lighter wheels
Stronger compound brake pads
Larger brakes
slotted (NOT cross-drilled, most crack) rotors
carbon fiber hatch
carbon fiber fenders
carbon fiber door skins
lexan windows - this is more race car than street car stuff.
